What Is An Omega De Ville?

The Omega De Ville is a collection within Omega’s catalogue that was originally launched in the 1950s as part of the Omega Seamaster family. But in 1967, the De Ville was turned into its own collection. These stunning watches embody a sophisticated and classic design which is more elegant compared to sportier models.

The collection sees a vintage-inspired look with De Ville gold watches and two-toned links and has been combined with modern technologies. The De Ville was the first watch to be equipped with the exclusive Omega Co-Axial Chronograph, which makes this watch not only stylish but precise, reliable and efficient with water-resistant features up to 100m, which the iconic Speedmaster can’t compete with.

The perfect dress watch, the Omega De Ville was worn by brand ambassador George Clooney in his performance in The Descendants. Available for both men and women, the Omega De Ville is a stunning watch featuring a vintage look with modern calibres, with beautiful designs featuring a tourbillion and diamonds.

Omega De Ville Models

Within the Omega De Ville collection, there are a few different types of models that you might find. Here at Ramsdens, we sell pre-owned models so you can find newer and vintage De Ville watches alike. Our stock changes frequently but some Omega De Ville models you might find in our range are:

• Omega De Ville Prestige: This series is a classic dress watch with clear and streamlined designs. The De Ville Prestige has a diameter between 24.4 and 39.5mm and can be found with three-hand versions with a date display or with small seconds at 9, a date window at 3 and a power reserve display at 6. The collection offers stainless steel, yellow, rose or white gold designs which may feature diamond-set bezels and Omega De Ville quartz movement watches.
• Omega De Ville Tresor: This automatic series features sleek and slim watches and are available in stainless steel, yellow, white or Sedna gold and various colours of dials and even diamond-bevelled dials. Within this series, newer models were released, the De Ville Tresor Small Seconds and the De Ville Tresor Power Reserve. The former features a small seconds subdial at 6 instead of the date window on standard Omega De Ville Tresor watches, and the latter features the small second subdials with an additional power reserve dial at 12. Finally, the De Ville Mini Tresor was added to the line-up, which just featured a smaller case but offered a Moonshine gold, which has a brighter yellow which doesn’t fade as quickly, paired with a ‘toile-de-Jouy’ fabric strap which is a type of printed pattern first seen in the 1700s in France.
• Omega De Ville Tourbillion: These models are handmade by a single watchmaker and you can even find the name of the watchmaker engraved on the main plate. Because these are handmade, very few make the market every year, but you can find these watches in platinum and Sedna gold with various dial colours and leather straps. Within this collection, you can find the De Ville Tourbillion Numbered Edition, which is the first Master Chronograph-certified tourbillion watch Iwith manual winding.
• Omega De Ville Hour Vision: Launched in 2007, older De Ville Hour Vision watches offer a clear view of the movement from below and the sides but today, most of them have opaque case sides. These watches can be found in stainless steel and Sedna gold models, the modern editions all feature the De Ville Co-Axial Chronometer calibres. Design-wise, the Hour Vision has a sportier look with classic Roman numerals, Sedna gold cases and leather straps.
• Omega De Ville Co-Axial: The De Ville Chronograph can be found within each of the collections above as most of the modern De Ville’s offer the Co-Axial. These timepieces feature three subdials and share design features such as Roman numerals, baton hands, and bullhorn lugs on the dial. The Omega Co-Axial watches are extremely reliable, precise, efficient, and even come with 100m of water-resistance and anti-magnetic components.

Omega De Ville Ladies’ Watches

The Omega De Ville watches for women offer a wide range of models and designs. You can find De Ville ladies’ watches which feature diamond-bevelled dials in Sedna gold or platinum as well as smaller watches which have a more dainty look. Within the models, Omega De Ville offers women’s watches in the Prestige, Tresor, Tourbillion lines and more. As well as the Omega Ladymatic, which was first released in 1955 as its own model but was later added into the De Ville series. This De Ville ladies’ watch dazzles with diamonds, can be found in gold, silver or mother-of-pearl colours and uses the De Ville Co-Axial with silicon balance springs.
